Born and raised in Ohio, Laura Maloney developed an interest for art at an early age. Fascinated with the intricacy of nature, drawing and painting her surroundings quickly became an outlet for her creative passions. Years of art lessons and trips to the museum exposed her to the masters, while frequent travel inspired a culturally diverse palate. Landing at University of Michigan’s School of Art and Design, Laura Maloney joined the production team of the award-winning, 17-volume Grzimek’s Animal Life Encyclopedia. She was soon recruited as an illustrator, and realized her true passion was in wildlife illustration. After earning her degree in Scientific Illustration, she moved to New York City to pursue art. Laura Maloney is currently the Digital Media Director for Nohra Haime Gallery, New York, and continues to freelance from home.
